The IRA Charitable Rollover and other charitable giving incentives, including those for food, books, computer inventory, and land conservation expired at the beginning of 2012.

Contact your Representatives and Senators and urge them to reinstate these critical giving incentives as soon as possible. Share with them:

• Nonprofit organizations across the country and the people we serve rely on the charitable gifts made possible by the IRA charitable rollover and other giving incentives that are part of the "extenders package."

• Since their enactment, these important incentives have contributed to the nonprofit community’s efforts to improve lives and create thriving communities.

• At a time when America’s nonprofits are struggling to meet increasing demand for services in the face of diminishing revenues, further declines in giving will severely limit the support we are able to provide individuals and families in communities in your state, and throughout the country.

• We have seen in the past that waiting until the end of the year to restore these provisions  – even when they are ultimately extended retroactively – results in tremendous uncertainty for donors, undermining their incentive effect.

• We urge you to act now to reinstate these critical giving incentives to help ensure that our nation’s nonprofits have the resources they need to meet the needs of individuals, families and communities across the country.
