Federation of New York
The Asian American
Federation has established the WTC Fund to aid in the tragedy relief
effort.
AXA
AXA Group and AXA Financial, Inc. have committed $10 million toward a $15 million worldwide corporate fundraising campaign. The
"AXA 9/11 Relief Fund" will support ongoing disaster
relief efforts. AXA will donate $10 million based on a $2-for-$1
matching gift program coordinated by the AXA Foundation, the
philanthropic arm of New York-based AXA Financial. It is anticipated
that AXA employees and associates will donate $5 million or more in
individual contributions, for a total contribution of $15 million.
International
Association for Healthcare Security & Safety
The International Association for Healthcare Security &
Safety has set up a fund to replace ambulances that were destroyed
as a result of the September 11th attacks.
Lumina
Foundation for Education
In response to the devastating events of September 11, Lumina
Foundation for Education is partnering with the Citizens'
Scholarship Foundation of America (CSFA) to initiate a scholarship
fund to assist families who suffered direct losses in the
"Attack on America." Lumina Foundation has pledged $3
million to create the "Families of Freedom Scholarship
Fund"—$2 million outright and $1 million as a
dollar-for-dollar matching grant to encourage contributions from
individuals. The grant will go to CSFA, which will manage the Fund
and accept additional contributions from individuals and
organizations. This scholarship fund will assist financially needy
children and spouses of those killed or permanently disabled as a
result of the September 11 terrorist attacks.
National
Cooperative Business Association
The National Cooperative Business Association and the Cooperative
Development Foundation have set up the September 11 Relief Fund to
collect voluntary, tax-deductible financial contributions. Funds
will assist cooperators and their families with grief counseling and
other needs as identified.
The
New York Community Trust and United Way
The New York Community Trust and the United Way of New York City,
supported by United Way of
America and the Council on Foundations,
have created the September 11th Fund to mobilize financial resources
for the victims of the tragic events in New York City and
other communities. Launched with a donation of $1 million from
Williams Gas Pipeline, the fund will provide support through
emergency assistance to agencies and nonprofits.
The New York
Women's Foundation
The foundation, the only public U.S. foundation dedicated
solely to low-income women and girls in New York City, has
established a special disaster relief fund for nonprofits helping
low-income women and girls directly affected by the September 11
tragedy. The fund will support small, community-based
nonprofits in their efforts to deliver increased services to their
client populations.
Robin Hood
Donations to the Robin Hood Relief Fund will help the
families of the heroic firefighters, police officers, and rescue
workers, and also the cafeteria workers, shoeshine people, and
thousands of others who have suffered immeasurably. Robin Hood's
board will underwrite all administrative costs so that 100 percent of
monies donated to the relief fund will go directly to aiding victims
and their families.
The Saint Paul
Foundation
The Saint Paul Foundation and its statewide affiliate, Minnesota
Foundation, have been raising money to aid the relief efforts. The
Saint Paul Foundation fund was seeded with $25,000 and has received
78 gifts totaling approximately $85,145. The Minnesota Foundation is
offering online giving on several local company websites. They have
received 155 gifts for a total of $8,485, and another eight gifts
were received at the Foundation totaling $6,900.
The
San Francisco Foundation
The San Francisco Foundation has created The San Francisco
Foundation New York Relief Fund to mobilize local resources to aid
victims and their families affected by the New York tragedy. To
date, more than $500,000 has been contributed to launch the fund.
All of the funds raised will be sent to The New York Community Trust
and United Way's September 11th Fund.
Volunteers
of America
The organization has created two funds—the Help and Hope Fund
will enable Volunteers of America to support programs that provide
needed services, and the Kids for Kids Relief Fund will aid children
who have lost parents in the tragedy. In addition, Volunteers
of America is providing bereavement counseling and free housing to
rescue workers in New York City.
Washington Area
Women's Foundation
The board of the Washington Area Women's Foundation has
created a new Rapid Response Fund for nonprofit organizations
helping low-income women and girls affected by the Pentagon attack
on September 11 and the subsequent economic impact. |
