Help Enact the Nonitemizer Charitable Deduction

The tax code is the most powerful tool available to the federal government for sending the message that we as Americans highly value and strongly support charitable giving. Today that message goes out only to the 30% of taxpayers who itemize their deductions. A nonitemizer deduction would send that message clearly and unambiguously to all Americans. Legislation to extend the charitable deduction to all Americans is currently in Congress, has the support of President Bush, and has been endorsed by more than 575 nonprofit organizations.
