2013 John W. Gardner Leadership Award Recipient
Independent Sector was pleased to honor Constance L. “Connie” Rice as the 2013 John W. Gardner Leadership Award recipient at the IS National Conference on Monday, September 30, 2013 in New York City.Connie is the co-founder of Advancement Project, a public policy organization that works to engineer large-scale systems change to remedy inequality, expand opportunity, and open paths to upward mobility.
Congratulations to Sarah Johnson
Sector honored Sarah Johnson as the 2013 recipient of the American
Express NGen Leadership Award. Sarah is a collaborative leader who
believes performing arts organizations have a responsibility as cultural
citizens to demonstrate their public value and help expose various
audiences to the arts.
Sarah earned the award as director of Carnegie Hall's Weill Music Institute, which serves some 170,000 people annually with programs and partnerships
that allow people of all ages and backgrounds to explore their
potential as performers and audience members.
