The Center for Corporate Citizenship is a leading resource on corporate citizenship, providing research, executive education, consultation, and convenings on citizenship topics. The Center’s mission is to establish corporate citizenship as a business essential, so all companies act as economic and social assets to the communities they impact by integrating societal interests with other core business objectives. It offers research and development on corporate citizenship; publications including newsletters, research reports, and white papers; executive education programs, including a Certificate program; consulting; convenings that include an annual conference, roundtables, and regional meetings; a corporate membership program; and a website that provides an online meeting place for the corporate citizenship community.

CIVICUS is an international alliance dedicated to strengthening citizen action and civil society around the world. Its Promoting Corporate Philanthropy and Corporate Citizenship Program was developed with the recognition that in order to advance its own work, civil society had to develop new ways of engaging and collaborating with the business sector. Through this program, CIVICUS promotes the concept and practice of corporate citizenship, particularly in regions and countries where such initiatives are less developed.

The Council on Foundations is a membership association of more than 2,000 grantmaking foundations, including approximately 250 corporate foundations and giving programs. The Council's Corporate Citizenship Project, with 16 corporate participants, has focused on developing a framework for measuring the impact of corporate citizenship on business performance. In 2000, the Council developed a tool for individual companies to measure the impact of their philanthropy. A similar national study is underway.

As the leading business-to-business network for corporate social responsibility in Europe, CSR Europe’s mission is to help companies achieve profitability, sustainable growth, and human progress by advancing corporate social responsibility into mainstream business practice. With 60 company members and 15 national partners, CSR Europe:
  • Popularizes the business case for corporate social responsibility by reaching 50,000 business leaders and partners through print and online publications, best practice information and toolkits;
  • Offers business managers learning and benchmarking opportunities through capacity building programs; and
  • Promotes dialogue between business, European policy makers, governments, civil society, and the academic community.

Through a comprehensive resource center, publications, and website, CSR links organizations with businesses to work together to tackle social exclusion and promote job growth.

 
Ford Foundation's Corporate Involvement (CI) Initiative
The Ford Foundation launched the Corporate Involvement (CI) Initiative in 1996 with the goal of improving the participation of low-income communities and individuals in the benefits of the market economy. By influencing business attitudes, strategies, and practices, CI Initiative Partners are seeking to: increase the flow of private sector investment into low-income communities to stimulate business development and job creation and to build healthy, livable communities; improve the availability of financial services required to acquire and preserve homes, start and grow businesses, and build financial assets; and, increase opportunities for low-income individuals to attain and retain family-supporting jobs. 

Through the support of more than twenty organizations, the CI Initiative’s two primary strategies are: 1) To prepare community and economic fields for partnerships with business by building capacity within those fields, and 2) To build awareness, knowledge and leadership within the business community.

The Initiative on Social Enterprise at Harvard Business School was created to address an expanding demand among nonprofit organizations and other social enterprises for management skills and a corresponding need among business leaders and corporations for more effective means of involvement with the social sector. The initiative's focus encompasses nonprofit organizations and for-profit companies with an embedded social purpose, as well as the activities of business corporations aimed at benefiting their communities. The Initiative's strategy is to leverage the core strengths of Harvard Business School to create two-way learning between business and the social sector, including: practice-based research; educational programs for social enterprise organizations and their leaders; learning and service opportunities for the school's MBA students, both in and beyond the classroom; and programs for HBS alumni and other business leaders to support lifelong engagement in social enterprise.

The Social Marketing Institute is a newly created organization dedicated to advancing the science and practice of social marketing. Social marketing is the use of commercial marketing concepts and tools in programs designed to influence individuals' behavior to improve their well being and that of society.
