PPAI Saturday: Getting the Inside Scoop on Effective Advocacy

Advocacy , Annual Conference , Policy , PPAI Add comments

We have an advocacy-packed afternoon in store for Saturday PPAI! We will be focused on how to do effective advocacy: the essentials, the strategies, and the inside scoop from experts and new research.

We will start off the afternoon of advocacy with IS president and CEO Diana Aviv, who will talk about a year-long IS research project, that included over 1400 organizations, which analyzed our sector’s advocacy efforts. We will then discuss how this will affect our work going forward, and how to think “Beyond The Cause” of each of our organizations. This discussion will be moderated by Ralph Everett, IS board member, and president and CEO of the Joint Center for Political and Economic Studies.

The next session will discuss how to work better with policy makers and build champions of those who have the power to make the decisions you need. Moderated by Tamera Luzzatto, our speakers include Chris Hansen, Nicole Porter, and Tom Sheridan. They will discuss different tactics that they have used as well as how to tailor your strategy to also match policy makers’ self-interests.

We will then break into sessions lead by advocacy experts who will cover a range of topics that discuss the many facets of advocacy and lobbying. There are 11 sessions/speakers to choose from, and each session will be repeated to give attendees the chance to see two labs of their choosing. Topics include coalitions, messaging, grassroots, funding advocacy, and lobbying basics.

It’s not too late to register for PPAI and attend this exciting session. Click now to register!
