Accomplished Public Policy Professional, Historian, and Journalist Brings More Than a Decade of Government Experience and Nonprofit Leadership
(WASHINGTON, November 30, 2010) — Independent Sector announced Andrew Yarrow has joined its policy team as Senior Policy Analyst to help address challenges facing the nonprofit and philanthropic community, and the implications of proposed legislation and regulations for nonprofits, foundations, and donors.
Andrew is an accomplished public policy professional, historian and journalist with expertise in academic and policy research and outreach and partnership development. He comes to IS from nonpartisan, nonprofit Public Agenda, an organization dedicated to providing unbiased research that bridges the gap between American leaders and what the public really thinks about issues. Andrew served as Vice President and Washington Director.

He has published three books, Forgive Us Our Debts: The Intergenerational Dangers of Fiscal Irresponsibility, Latecomers: Children of Parents over 35 and most recently Measuring America: How Economic Growth Came to Define American Greatness in the Late 20th Century. Andrew is also a former reporter for the New York Times, was a speechwriter in the Clinton Administration, the director of outreach for special projects in the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution, and consulted with the World Bank, UNICEF, the National Endowment for the Arts, and other nonprofit organizations. Andrew has a Ph.D. in modern U.S. history and an M.P.A., serves as an adjunct professor of history and government at American University, and is a contributing columnist for the Baltimore Sun.
