2008 Annual Conference

NGen: Moving Nonprofit Leaders from Next to Now

More on the NGen Program
The Benefits of NGen

Why should an emerging leader devote three days to the NGen program? Why should a charity or foundation pay for staff members to attend? The benefits for individuals and organizations are compelling.

Results for Emerging Leaders

Ready to enhance your professional networks and build your leadership skills? There’s no better place for young nonprofit leaders to do that than the Independent Sector Annual Conference, the premier gathering for leaders of America's charities, foundations, and corporate giving programs.

By participating in NGen and the full conference, you will:

  • Work with leaders from charities and foundations to address nonprofit leadership and workforce challenges;
  • Gain insights into areas that affect the work of every nonprofit organization by exchanging ideas with other rising professionals;
  • Learn useful strategies for dealing with practical matters you face every day through break-out sessions and idea sharing opportunities; and
  • Add your voice to the development of solutions for key issues facing our communities.

NGen is free to those attending for the full conference; sign up after you complete your registration. We need rising stars like you to be part of 1,000 leaders coming together in Philadelphia.

The Leadership Deficit
According to a recent Bridgespan study, over the next decade, nonprofit organizations will need to attract and develop some 640,000 new senior managers -- nearly two-and-a-half times the number currently employed. Now is the time to invest in emerging leaders in your organization.

Results for Organizations

An organization is only as good as the people who staff it. Investing in developing current talent not only costs much less than constantly searching for new people, but it helps create staff members both dedicated to and better able to fulfill the mission of the organization. Nonprofits need current leaders and supervisors to begin supporting and mentoring emerging leaders, and the Independent Sector Annual Conference is a perfect opportunity to form those connections.

At the conference, your emerging leader will have the opportunity to:

  • Connect with other emerging leaders to address nonprofit workforce and leadership challenges
  • Collaborate with leaders of all ages in addressing issues facing our communities and contribute to a common agenda
  • Acquire valuable new ideas and resources on how to improve your organization.
