(WASHINGTON, November 2, 2009) -- Independent Sector President and CEO Diana Aviv submitted a letter to Senators Reid, Baucus, Harkin, and Dodd commending the progress made on advancing health care reform legislation, and urging them to keep nonprofit organizations and their employees in mind as they work to combine the bills of the Finance and “HELP” committees.
In the letter Diana Aviv states, “We are working to ensure that the final legislation that emerges from Congress will address the needs for affordable health care of the nearly 13 million employees of nonprofit organizations and will provide significant help for the tens of millions of Americans who are uninsured or underinsured.” To this end, Ms. Aviv urges the Senators to ensure that their health care reform legislation will “include health care incentives that treat nonprofit and for-profit employers equally and provide direct assistance to nonprofit employers so that they may provide health insurance for their employees.”
